A crawlspace inspection and evaluation goes a level deeper than a general mold check – we're looking at the whole environment down there, not just spots of growth. That means moisture levels, vapor barrier condition, insulation, ventilation, structural wood, and any signs of pests or standing water, all in one visit.
This is usually the call we get when a homeowner in Port Murray, NJ has a general sense something's wrong with their crawl space but doesn't know what – maybe the floors feel cold or spongy, there's a musty smell in the house, the HVAC system seems to be working overtime, or they just bought a home and want to know what they're dealing with before problems show up.
We go in with a flashlight, moisture meter, and camera, and check every accessible section – vapor barrier coverage and condition, standing water or damp soil, insulation that's sagging or falling from moisture, wood framing for rot or mold, and any gaps or vents letting outside humidity in. We document everything with photos, not just a verbal summary, so you actually see what we saw.
At the end, you get a clear picture of what's contributing to the problem – whether it's a missing vapor barrier, a plumbing leak, poor drainage outside, or ventilation that's doing more harm than good and a straightforward recommendation for what needs fixing first.
Cost depends on crawl space size and accessibility. Tight, low-clearance spaces take more time than one you can move through standing up.
If your Port Murray, NJ home's crawl space hasn't been looked at in years, or ever, call (213) 871-1085 and we'll tell you exactly what's down there.
